West Cumbrian bypass closed after two-car crash

The A66 Stainburn bypass near Workington was closed for an hour today after two cars collided at about 10.45am.

Firefighters assisted paramedics in moving the driver of a Vauxhall Corsa who had a neck injury.

The woman from Moss Bay, Workington, was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.

The second car, a Ford Fiesta, was driven by a 79-year-old man from Maryport.

He and his female passenger were also taken to the West Cumberland for a check up.
