Three women and man attacked in Cumbrian street

A man has been arrested following an alleged attack on three women and a man.

The incident in Lowther Street, Whitehaven, happened during the early hours of Sunday and the three women, who were all from the local area, suffered minor injuries.

A Cumbria police spokeswoman said that the male victim, who was also from the Whitehaven area, suffered a serious leg injury.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident and later released on police bail.
