Three due in court after drugs worth £40,000 seized

Three people are today due in court after Cumbria police seized cocaine worth £40,000.

The officers found the drugs - together with more than £12,000 in cash - in an area of Carlisle on Sunday.

Five people were arresed as a result.

Three of those picked up are due to go before magistrates in the city today to face a charge of conspiracy to supply cocaine.

They are Jason John Hodgson, 31, of Dowbeck Road, Morton; Adam Lorimer Waters, 59, of Heysham Meadow, Raffles; and Sarah Louise Woodward, 34, from Manchester.

Two women - a 27-year-old from Carlisle and another aged 53 and from Manchester - were released on police bail.

New law allows police to stop drivers and test for the influence of drugs. Will it work?

It must. Drug-driving, like drink-driving, is a killer

How can it? New law keeps giving police more to do, while police numbers are being cut. Madness!

There's no evidence of law preventing use of mobile phones in cars working, so why would it?
