The bottom line in advertising! Carlisle man has Skoda tattoo in delicate place

There's no mistaking what Mark Richardson’s favourite make of car is – if you look at his bottom.

The car service advisor has put himself under the needle and had the logo of motor manufacturer Skoda tattooed in a rather sensitive area.

He’s been branded on his bottom as part of a fundraising drive to help the Great North Air Ambulance, operator of the Langwathby-based Pride of Cumbria helicopter.

The 23-year-old, who works for Skoda dealership Telford at Kingstown, Carlisle, chose the Skoda sign ahead of other suggestions, which included that of video game character Pac Man, Father Christmas and the Lionel Richie fan club logo.

They were all suggested on a Facebook page created especially for the fundraiser.

Speaking as the tattoo was being created, Mark said: “I wanted to do something different. How many stories do you hear about someone getting a tattoo for charity?”

And whatever pain he went through, he says it was worth it.

Mark, of Kingfisher Park, Carlisle, was worked on at the Immortal Art Studio, on Annetwell Street, Carlisle.

“I’m originally from Hayton and a lot of the charity events there are for this cause,” he said. “Just one call for them can use a large amount of money.

“So far I’ve raised about £200, and there are still donations coming in,” he added.

Immortal Art agreed to do the tattoo free of charge given that the proceeds are going to charity.

Mark already has a tribal tattoo on his arm, but says that the newest addition to his collection is just a bit of fun – even if his mum was against the idea at first.

“My girlfriend’s curious about it. She’s quite looking forward to seeing it actually,” he said.

“My mum’s all right with the idea now, but she wasn’t too keen at first.

“She’ll come round to it – she has to.”
