Sniffer dog plan for Cumbrian rock festival

A plan to introduce sniffer dogs to detect drugs at this July’s Cockermouth Rock Festival at Wellington Farm has been agreed.

The call for the sniffer dogs came after Cumbria police were called out 22 times at last year’s festival for a number of incidents including drug overdoses, assaults, drink-driving, disorder and criminal damage.

Allerdale council’s licensing panel agreed to festival conditions which include having a professional security team being appointed, ticket holders being searched on entry, a drugs dog being at the entrance to the site, and also controls to curb excessive or underage drinking.

Will changes to the stop and search code increase your trust in the police?

I already trust our police to act in the best interests of the law-abiding

Don't care. I doubt stop and search is used much in Cumbria anyway

No. Who's to say the new code will be followed faithfully?
