Sink hole found near children's play park

A sinkhole has opened up near a west Cumbrian children’s play park.

Police confirmed they have had reports of a hole which is described as about 2ft wide and nearly 20ft deep.

It is on the coastal path, not far from the Harrington Marina play area.

Cumbria police say there are fears the hole could be larger than what can be seen on the surface.

Officers have asked that the public stay away from the area while further investigations are carried out.

The hole has been reported to Allerdale council.
