Search for diver missing in Wastwater
Last updated at 08:50, Monday, 28 January 2013
The search resumes today for a diver missing in Wastwater.
The hunt for the man - who was reported missing at about 3pm yesterday - has involved a helicopter from RAF Valley and Cumbria police, Whitehaven Coastguard and Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team.
The missing man is in his thirties and from the West Yorkshire area.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service has also been searching the shores of the lake, the deepest in England.
Most of the search was called off at 6.30pm yesterday due to the darkness and weather conditions.
However, the police underwater search team continued searching until 6.30am today.
The search will start again later this morning, with specialist equipment due to be brought in.
The alarm was raised by the diver's companion following a planned 40 minute dive.
Stuart Atkinson, duty officer with Liverpool Coastguard, said the search was taking place in an area where communication is difficult.
