Boy, 8, flown to Newcastle hospital after car crash

An eight-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car in Gretna.

The Pride of Cumbria air ambulance was called out at 9am today after the boy suffered head, face and arm injuries.

He was treated at the scene then flown to the major trauma centre at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

He was said to be stable on arrival.
