Cumbrian woman's competition win is timely boost for holiday

Nicola McGarrigle has got some extra spending money for her holiday after scooping £250 in our News & Star competition.
Mrs McGariggle and her husband Tom are soon set to head for a cruise on the Nile – and this latest Super September prize is a surprise treat that is poised to come in handy.
The couple, who live at Houghton, entered a competition with Saturday’s edition of the paper.
Mrs McGariggle says she regularly does competitions but lady luck has never struck until now. “I never win anything, so I’m absolutely chuffed to bits to win,” she said. “I’m really pleased.”
A delighted Mrs McGariggle was presented with her winnings yesterday.
She added she is an avid reader of the paper. “I get the News & Star daily and The Cumberland News every week,” she added.
The competition ran in the News & Star all week.
Readers obtained a code from the advert in the paper and then either texted it or entered it online to be in with a chance to win.
Readers this week have a chance to win £1,000 by collecting tokens in the News & Star and next week are once again in with a shout of winning £250 every day.
