Praise for Carlisle care home

Praise has been given to a Carlisle care home, with residents describing it as a “home from home”.

Ravenstone Care and Rehabilitation Home, in Victoria Place, provides care and support for people who have mental health issues.

A recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessed the home on five basic standards: care and welfare of people who use services; safeguarding people who use services from abuse; safety and suitability of premises; staffing;and complaints procedures.

The watchdog found that Ravenstone was meeting all its requirements, with residents providing glowing reviews.

Inspectors reported: “None of those we spoke to had anything negative to say about the support they received or the staff who provided this support.

“Many of those who lived in the home had been there for a long time and looked upon it as their own home.”

The respect shown to residents was particularly noted, as well as the relaxed atmosphere within the home.
