Police appeal for witnesses after west Cumbria assaults

Cumbria police are investigating after separate incidents in Maryport and Workington.

On Monday at about 4pm on Gordon Street, Workington, a man and a woman were seen arguing before the man pushed the woman, spat on her, grabbed her and punched her several times in the face.

Police are particularly keen to speak to a man who intervened during the incident.

And in a separate incident on John Street, Maryport, at about 4.40pm on Wednesday, an assault took place involving a man and a woman.

Two women were on the incident at the time and witnessed the incident. Police are asking members of the public with information on the incident to call them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
