Man injured during trouble in street

A man suffered injuries to his face after trouble broke out in the street.

Police say they believe “an altercation” took place on Bridge Lane, Penrith, leading to the man, 26, being taken to the town hospital by ambulance.

The trouble also involved a man and a woman. A man, 27, was arrested on suspicion of assault and later bailed.

The incident happened between 11.30pm and 11.40pm on Sunday.

Police are appealing for information. A force spokeswoman said: “Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call Cumbria police on 101 and ask for DC Catherine McFadden.

“Or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
