Man hurt in gang attack on Carlisle street

A 22-year-old man suffered head and facial injuries after he was set upon by a gang in an unprovoked attack.

The victim was walking alone along St Ninian’s Road, Upperby, when he was attacked by what police described as “a number of people”. It is not known how many were involved.

He was left with injuries to his face and head following the attack, at 10.45pm last Friday.

A force spokeswoman said several people were seen running away.

One was described as being a man in his late teens or early 20s and was wearing a red or orange sweatshirt. A woman, with “distinctive bright blond hair” was also believed to have been involved. She was also in her late teens or early 20s.
