Man hurt in four car crash in west Cumbria

A man was taken to hospital with neck injuries after a four car crash.

The 40-year-old - from Frizington - was one of four people hurt in the collision on the A595 at Moor Row Road Ends at about 4.25pm yesterday (Thursday).

The man was driving a black Audi RS4 which was involved in the crash along with a red Peugeot 306, being driven by a man, 50, from Moor Row, a black Volkswagen Golf, driven by a 34-year-old man from Whitehaven and an Audi Q5, driven by a man, aged 51, from Beckermet.

Police initially said the RS4 driver was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven with serious but not life-threatening neck injuries. He was, however, discharged after treatment last night.

The other people were treated at the roadside by paramedics.

The A595 road was closed at Clintz Brow roundabout and Mirehouse Road until about 8pm.

Diversions were in place and motorists were urged to avoid the area.

Anyone who saw the collision is asked to call Pc Denver Matthews on 101.

I would have used the Sunday service

Our rail services are way behind most other countries. No wonder we rely so heavily on cars
