Man charged with indecent act in Carlisle Library

A man has appeared in court charged with committing a lewd act in Carlisle Library.

Michael Lawrence Graham, 25, was brought from custody to appear before the city’s magistrates’ court.

The court heard that Graham, who gave his address as the Bowling Green hostel on Lowther Street, is accused of performing the indecent act at the library in The Lanes on Wednesday.

He is alleged to have been watching “animation cartoon” pornography on the library computers at the time.

Graham did not enter a plea to a charge of committing an act of outraging public decency.

District Judge Gerald Chalk remanded him into custody, prior to his next appearance at Carlisle Crown Court.
