Man bailed in Carlisle street attack probe
Last updated at 11:52, Wednesday, 02 May 2012
A suspect arrested in connection with an attack that left a man in a critical condition has been bailed while investigations continue.
The 26-year-old was held following an assault in English Street in Carlisle city centre just before 2am yesterday that led to a 34-year-old being taken for treatment in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The attack happened outside the Outrageous nightspot and officers said it “continued across the street”, finishing outside the B&M Bargains store opposite.
The injured man was taken to the city’s Cumberland Infirmary but later transferred for treatment to the north east when his condition deteriorated.
The latest information available suggests he was critical, but stable.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the incident or the circumstances leading up to it to come forward. Call officers at Carlisle CID with information on 101.
