Man "attacks mother and son" outside car wash in Cumbria

Police are investigating reports that a man attacked a mother and her son outside a car wash.

The suspect is believed to have assaulted a 20-year-old man in his face following a row at the car wash in Cart Road, Whitehaven, opposite the Asda supermarket.

A short time later the same suspect then assaulted the victim’s 41-year-old mother by grabbing her, causing her to fall to the ground, police say.

Neither the 20-year-old man or his mother were seriously injured.

The suspect is said to be in his 40s and local to the Whitehaven area.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incidents, which happened between 9.30am and 9.55am on Saturday, to contact PC Harley Young on 101.
