A countywide weather warning for Cumbria has been lifted.
The Met Office had forecast persistent rain from 11am, expected to turn heavy at times throughout the day, which will be falling on saturated ground. The warning had been expected to last until 8pm but was lifted at lunchtime.
A Met Office spokesman said: "An active cold front will move southeastwards across the area bringing some prolonged rain followed by a brief, intense burst late afternoon or early evening.
"While river flooding is not expected, 20 to 40mm on top of saturated conditions are likely to lead to surface water flooding. Southerly winds will touch gale force over coasts and hills."
