SOARING temperatures caused a woman to suffer from heat illnesses while out walking on a Lake District fell yesterday.
The 23-year-old had been walking near Scafell Pike with her boyfriend when the temperature caused her to suffer from heat exhaustion and severe dehydration.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service's (GNAAS) Pride of Cumbria helicopter was called out at 4pm and a doctor and paramedic crew treated the woman before airlifting her to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.
The journey took less than 10 minutes and she arrived in a stable condition.
