Pupils from a Cumbrian dance school took to the West End stage.

Members of Nicola Ivinson’s School of Dance performed at central London's Her Majesty's Theatre, home to the famous musical, Phantom of the Opera.

The performance trip - an event also attended by other dance schools - saw the culmination of routines rehearsed since September.

The pupils performed a number of routines, including a Motown medley, a Bugsy Malone medley and a medley of songs from Bodyguard.

A spokeswoman for the school said: "All of the routines were very upbeat and the crowd cheered and clapped throughout.

"After a morning of hair and make-up preparations in the hotel, the cast spent a full day in the theatre for a busy day of technical and dress rehearsals and photo sessions.

"Although extremely excited, all of the performers remained focused and acted with true professionalism throughout the whole experience."

The curtains opened to a full house and the group waited in the wings to get their call onstage to perform in front of proud parents, family and friends.

The spokeswoman added: "It was such a fantastic atmosphere with the dancers all wishing each other lots of luck.

"Throughout all four of the performances, the dancers put their heart and soul into their routines and their beaming smiles said it all.

"It was a truly unforgettable experience and the dancers put on a magical performance."

Classes are held at Brampton Community Centre, Ivegill Village Hall and Kirkoswald Village Hall.

Nicola Ivinson thanked all those involved as well as those who supported the trip.
