Two men will be sentenced next month after they both admitted possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Ryan Thomas Presley, 24 and Ricky Lee Murphy, 20, pleaded guilty to the charges when they appeared at Carlisle's magistrates' court yesterday.

Presley, of Prescott Road, Longsowerby admitted possessing a quantity of cannabis on July 29 while Murphy, of Bower Street, off Wigton Road, admitted possessing diazepam tablets on the same day.

Prosecuting, John Moran told the court that both men were found to be in possession of the drugs following a police search at an address in Carlisle.

He said that Presley was found to have 27 snap bags of cannabis with an overall weight of 37.41g.

He said that the cannabis had an estimated street value of £374.10.

Murphy had 367 tablets, which Mr Moran said would likely be sold for £1 each.

He said: "When he was arrested, Ryan Presley made no comments in interview but fingerprint evidence was found linking him to the cannabis."

He said that Murphy also made no comment when questioned.

District Judge Gerald Chalk was told that the pair had both been regular users of cannabis since they were at school and had only been supplying the drugs to friends.

Both Presley and Murphy will be sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on November 25.
