Thieves have stolen two red cars from Penrith in one night.

Two cars were stolen from Penrith between midnight and 9.30am this morning. Police are investigating but it is not yet known if the two thefts are linked.

A red Fiat Seicento, registration ND53 EPO, was stolen from Milner Mount between midnight and 9.30am.

A red Mini Cooper, registration NG53 OGM, was taken from Carleton Place between 6.30am and 8am. The thieves stole the car after taking its keys from inside the house.

Police are appealing for any information about the incidents. Any witnesses or those with information are asked to contact PC2209 Staley or PC 2066 Labram at Cumbria Police on 101 quoting log numbers 52 and 63 of February 11.
