Thousands of pounds worth of high-end clothing has been stolen from a store in Gretna Green.

Police Scotland is investigating a break-in to the Gretna Green Woollen Mill which happened sometime around 6pm yesterday.

As a result the thieves made off with large quantity of men's and ladies Barbour jackets and quilted jackets.

The store's management say at this stage the value of the goods stolen is more than £6,000.

Constable Graeme McKirde, who is based in Gretna police station, said: "We are currently carrying out door to door enquiries and examining CCTV footage from surrounding premises in relation to this crime.

"We also want to hear from anyone who may have been in the Gretna Green area in the early evening of Sunday to give us a call if they saw anything suspicious.

"This has the hallmarks of a smash and grab type raid and those responsible seem to know what it is they were after.

"Anyone with any information which might help us catch those responsible is asked to call Gretna Police on 101."
