A Workington teenager has been convicted of raping a woman.
Calum Hay, 19, was unanimously found guilty of the offence today following a trial at Carlisle Crown Court.
Hay denied a charge of rape following an incident which occurred on the evening of New Year's Day last year.
But after hearing evidence in the case - including an emotional account from the victim - jurors returned a guilty verdict.
Judge Barbara Forrester adjourned the case and ordered the preparation of a background report on the teenager.
Hay, of Hunday Court, Workington - a man of previous good character - will be sentenced on March 1.
He was remanded on conditional bail and told he is now subject to the sex offender notification requirements.
