A TEENAGER who attacked his dad with a metal bar has been sentenced by a judge at Carlisle Crown Court.
After lashing out at Paul Rose, 18-year-old Paul Hamlet Murray then assaulted his father's partner, Joanne McKenzie, by punching her in the head.
Murray also used the metal bar to damage a number of vehicles in a residential Workington street on February 13, and later spent his 18th birthday in custody after he was arrested.
He was sentenced at the crown court today after admitting eight crimes. These included the two assaults, possessing an offensive weapon and having a knife which he waved around during the incident.
Murray was given a nine-month custodial sentence by Recorder Michael Duck QC, who suspended the term for 18 months.
In addition, Murray, of Murton Park, Arlecdon, must complete up to 35 days of a rehabilitation requirement and 80 hours' unpaid work.
He was told by the judge: "It was a very significant outbreak of violence."
