A Carlisle thug who carried out a shocking attempted robbery just months after taking part in a drugs supply plot, has been jailed for seven years.
Peter Doran, 40, barged into the city home of a vulnerable man in January before binding his wrists with handcuffs.
Heroin addict Doran made a fruitless search for cash before leaving the stricken householder, who suffers from mental health and learning difficulties.
At the time of that incident, Doran was on police bail.
This followed an incident last August when £20,000 worth of heroin was found in his vehicle.
Having pleaded guilty to charges of attempted robbery and conspiring to supply heroin, he was sentenced at the city's crown court today.
Judge Peter Davies told Doran, of Millholme Avenue, Currock: "You must go to custody, and you must go for a significant period of time."
Doran's partner Rachel Gent, 32, was given a suspended two-year prison sentence for her role in the drugs plot.
Gent, also of Millholme Avenue, had admitted a charge of being concerned in the supply of heroin in respect of a role described as "limited".
