Roadworks that have been causing delays across Carlisle are now complete.

The works, on Eastern Way, are part of the redevelopment of the Durranhill industrial estate.

But the temporary traffic lights have proven a headache for motorists, with long tailbacks affecting traffic in both the Warwick Road and London Road areas during peak times.

A Cumbria County Council spokesman confirmed that the work will finish today and the traffic lights removed.

They will be required just once more, on Tuesday, October 25, while road markings are completed. This will last no longer than a day.
