Police are investigating an attempted break-in at a house in Annan.
It happened at around 2.30pm yesterday.
Officers said that the owner of the house returned home to find a man at the rear of the property. However, when challenged, he ran off towards the A75.
The suspect is described as white, tall and slim. He has a full sleeve tattoo on at least one arm, possibly both. He was wearing a light-coloured grey or fawn t-shirt and dark jeans.
Constable Paul Kempsell, at Annan police station, said: “This was a disturbing incident which the householder came home to find.
“The man we want to trace didn't hang about when disturbed and made off in the direction of the A75 road. The house sits on the edge of Annan and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been on the B723 road or the A75 where they cross at the flyover around this time.
“We are also keen to hear about any suspicious sightings in this area, either of people or any vehicles which may have been parked in the area.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
