A MAN had to be taken to hospital after suffering serious leg injuries when he was hit by a car on Baird Road in Harraby, Carlisle last night.
The car, which was believed to be a dark coloured Volkswagen Polo or similar, failed to stop at the scene.
The incident happened at approximately 11.40pm when three men were walking along Baird Road and a 24-year-old man was hit by the car. A spokesman for Cumbria police said that the vehicle had either 56 or 57 plates and is likely to have sustained front-end damage.
