A 47-year-old man has appeared in court today accused of stabbing another man in the early hours of February 20 in Penrith.
Paul Davies, of White Hart Yard, Penrith, has yet to enter a plea to the allegation of wounding Joseph Ball with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Deputy District Judge Joanna Hurst said the case would be sent straight to Carlisle Crown Court.
The judge, sitting at Carlisle Magistrates' Court, granted the defendant bail to an address in Kent.
Davies will appear before a judge at the crown court in Carlisle for a plea and trial preparation hearing on March 21.
