A CANNABIS dealer who peddled the drug to friends has been jailed for a year.
Lee McKnight, 22, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today having admitted three offences.
These were possessing cannabis with intent to supply, supplying the drug and possessing criminal property.
His offences came to light after police stopped a vehicle at Brampton just after midnight in early February.
McKnight was a passenger. He had several hundred pounds worth of cannabis and almost £2,000 cash in his possession.
Said to be a cannabis and cocaine addict, he confessed to dealing the class B drug to a small number of friends.
McKnight, of Cumrew Close, Durranhill, Carlisle, was sent immediately to prison despite appeals from his lawyer that the sentence should be suspended.
