Pregnant presenter Helen Skelton has revealed that she suffered an embarrassing fall while attending the prestigious London Fashion Week,

The Cumbrian, is filling in for TV Lorraine Kelly on her self-titled chat show this week, in what will be her last TV role before maternity leave.

Helen, who currently lives in France with her husband Richie Myler and son Ernie, previously appeared on the show last October, when she was a hit with viewers.

Many took to social media suggesting that she could be a permanent replacement for the legendary host.

Speaking about her fall, the 33-year-old, who is eight months pregnant with her second child, discussed the incident with the show's fashion correspondent Mark Heyes.

"What not to do at London Fashion Week - A: don't ask for the goody bag before you sit down," the former Blue Peter presenter, from Kirkby Thore, near Penrith, said.

"B: Don't fall down the stairs, split your knee open and spill said goody bag."

She then revealed that she had been injured by the fall, adding: "Don't call me Bridget Jones - I don't think I'll be invited back. My knee has been bleeding for 12 hours."

Offering reassurances, Mr Heyes said: "It happens to the best. All the fashion pack, they've got fashion scars. Think of Carrie when she fell in Dior.

"If it can happen to her, it's all right, it's fine."

Lorraine Kelly is currently fulfilling a lifelong ambition and taking a trip from the South Atlantic to Georgia, following the same trip taken by her hero - polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton - a century ago.

Speaking ahead of her return to the show, Helen said: "I can't wait to be back on Lorraine, it's such a great team to work with and I had a lot of fun presenting the show last time."
