Firefighters had to break into a flat in Carlisle after a man fell asleep while cooking breakfast.
Smoke from the cooker triggered a smoke alarm in the upstairs flat at Watermans Walk, Garlands.
Crews from the Carlisle East and Carlisle west stations were called to the scene, early this morning.
Firefighters used a ladder and gained entry via a window. They managed to wake the man, who was not injured, and prevent a fire.
