Psycho Killer and Walk This Way have been revealed as Allerdale council's Mark Fryer's top tracks.

He and three others were asked to choose the tunes special to them for a special recording, which will be broadcast in Workington town centre.

The project, Mountain top music, has been inspired by BBC Radio Four's Desert Island Discs, sees Councillor Fryer, Andy Semple, Debra Park and Charles Holmes, talk about their musical memories.

They will be broadcast through the Hub in Workington town centre on Saturdays this month.

Councillor Fryer's four tracks are:

You Make Me Feel Mighty Real, by Sylvester

Psycho Killer, by Talking Heads

Walk This Way, by Run DMC featuring Aerosmith

Back in New York City by Egremont-born Francis Dunnery

Andy Semple, part of the West Cumbria Works team, chose:

I Find That Essence Rare by Gang of Four

Carey by Joni Mitchell

Oh My Sweet Carolina by Ryan Adams

New Rose by The Damned

Debra Park, organiser of Maryport Blues Festival, picked:

Girls Talk by Dave Edmunds

Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen

If You Tolerate This by Manic Street Preachers

Farewell My Summer Love by Michael Jackson

Charles Holmes, Allerdale council’s head of community services, selected:

School Days by AC/DC

Welcome to the Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes to Hollywood

Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd

Rush by Xanadu

Coun Fryer said: “Music is played every day at The Hub and we wanted to do something a little bit different to entertain those who are visiting the town, and enjoying the town centre shops and cafes.

"If this proves popular, we’d like to continue it in the future with recordings from different members of the public.

“We are always looking for new and interesting initiatives to make our town centres ever more appealing so that people are keen to visit and stay longer when they do."

Combinations of the four 30-minute broadcasts will be played on Saturdays throughout January at 11am and 2pm, with two people featured each time.

They were recorded by music charity Soundwave.
