People in Carlisle gathered for an emotional reflection on the devastating terror attack in Manchester.
Representatives from different faith groups joined together for a minutes silence and prayers in the city centre this afternoon to pay tribute to those affected by the bombing at Manchester Arena last night.
A short service, arranged by the city's interfiath forum and Carlisle City Council, was led by Canon Michael Manley before everyone bowed their heads for a moment to think about those caught up in the horrific event.
More than a hundred people then signed a banner which read: "We choose love not hate."
Shoppers and passers-by stopped to take in what was going on with many of them joining in to write a message of hope.
Among them was Nick Hastings, 35, of Morton. He said: "It was such a shock when we woke up this morning. With children being involved it reflects on my own little boy.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those involved."
