Eight people have been arrested as part of a crime clampdown in north Cumbria.
The arrests are part of a week of action by police and other organisations including the RSPCA.
Uniformed officers and detectives have been focusing on preventing crime and incidents of domestic violence.
They have also been targeting anti-social drivers and speeding motorists in a bid to cut the number of road accidents.
Police were stopping motorists in Orton Road as part of the operation in the west of the city.
The operation was launched following concerns from members of the community.
Warrants are being conducted across the city and police are being proactive in looking for those who have failed to show up for court after being summoned to appear.
Police have already been receiving “positive feedback” from residents for the speed checks.
Victims of domestic violence have been urged to have the confidence to report incidents, insisting support from police and other bodies is available.
