A Carlisle man's house was broken into while he was in hospital recovering from a fall.
Thieves broke into the pensioner's home on Caldbeck Road, Raffles, through the back door. They stole his TV, a box of tools and other items.
The stolen goods were later recovered by police after they were abandoned in a nearby garden.
The incident happened sometime on Saturday or Sunday.
Police arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of burglary on Tuesday afternoon.
He has been released on police bail pending further investigations until Tuesday, January 10.
