POLICE are looking to trace a woman who was heard screaming in the street in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called to Myddleton Street, off Aglionby Street in Carlisle, at 3.30am after screams were heard from the area.

Those investigating the incident are now trying find the woman so they can speak to her about this incident. She is described as being in her early twenties, of slim build with brown hair and she was wearing a white top and a mini skirt at the time.

A man was seen running from the area towards Warwick Square. He is described as being of slim build and being approximately 5ft 9inches tall. He was wearing a blue hoody with the hood up, blue jean and trainers according to witnesses.

Detective Chief Inspector Lesley Hanson said: “We are looking to trace the distressed female involved in this incident. This is a direct appeal to her, please make contact with us so we know you are safe and well and allow us to speak to you about what happened.

"She can be reassured that she will be supported by officers and that this incident will be treated professionally and sensitively. I’d also like to hear from those who may have been in the area and seen either a woman or man matching the descriptions. No matter how insignificant you may deem your information it could be crucial to this investigation.”
