Man on test drive crashed into car, road sign and hedge

A man caused a car crash during a test drive.

Kyle John Potts, 21, of Highmoor Park, Wigton, was driving a Peugeot 206 near Silloth at 7.48pm on April 19.

North Cumbria magistrates heard that as he approached the Blackdyke junction on the B5302 Abbeytown to Silloth road there was a car in front that was turning in. He failed to realise in time and hit the vehicle.

Potts’ car then collided with a road sign and hedge, leaving behind a 174ft skid mark.

Potts was charged with driving without due care and attention and driving without insurance. He pleaded guilty to both by letter.

Potts was issued with six penalty points, fined £100 for driving without due care and attention and £150 for driving without insurance.

He was also told to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
