More than 800 people have taken part in this year’s Workington Musical Festival at the Carnegie Theatre.
Dancers aged three to 19 from Cumbria, Lancashire, Yorkshire and the north east danced in a variety of classes including Greek, modern stage, national, song and dance and tap.
There were also solo, duet and trio performances.
The annual five-day festival, which started on Saturday and finishes tomorrow, is in its 39th year.
The festival had three new dance schools in the competition this year – Claire Ferguson of Workington, Divas Dance Class of Cockermouth, and LDS Theatre Arts School.
Olivia Pewsey, of LDS Theatre Arts school in Lancashire, achieved 88 points in the IDTA Miss Dance of Great Britain Cumbrian heat, the highest mark of competition so far.
Cumbrian competitors and others from outside the county had achieved a high score of 86 in a variety of different classes.
Chairman Margaret McIntyre said: “The standard has continued to stay very high this year and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.
“It has gone extremely well so far and everyone has commented about how we are a really friendly festival.
“We have a committee of 12 people who volunteer their time to help, plus seven other volunteers who all work hard to make the festival happen.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating our 40th anniversary next year. We’re planning to introduce some new features next year to mark the milestone but haven’t yet decided what we will introduce.”
