Horse fall girl airlifted to Newcastle hospital

A girl has been flown to a specialist centre in Newcastle after falling from a horse.

The youngster, from Penrith, suffered what have been described as non life-threatening neck, arm and stomach injuries at about 3pm today.

She was taken to the unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary by the Guardian of the North helicopter after being assessed by an aircrew doctor and paramedic.

She was said to be stable on arrival.
