Cyclist 'critical' after accident in Lake District

A cyclist is in a critical condition in hospital following an accident in the Lakes.
The 27-year-old man, from the Grasmere area, came off his bike near Thirlmere at about 10.15am yesterday.
He suffered life-threatening neck injuries.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary by the Great North Air Ambulance’s Pride of Cumbria helicopter.
His condition was last described as “critical”.
