Chef Simon Rimmer, who hosts Channel Four’s Sunday Brunch cookery and chat show, will make a surprise appearance on one of First TransPennine Express trains on Thursday where he will hand out cupcakes.

First TransPennine Express run services through Carlisle from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Manchester Airport.

The chef first handed out cakes on the FTPE Manchester Piccadilly to Liverpool Lime Street service this week as part of the rail company’s ‘Going The Extra Mile’ campaign which will see commuters receiving a range of surprises over the coming months. FTPE have not revealed which of the routes Simon will travel on next week.

I don't believe hospitals in Cumbria will ever achieve the excellence they've promised
