Cumbrian model taking part in Total Warrior event for charity

A Workington model is swapping corsets for trainers as she prepares to take part in the Total Warrior challenge tomorrow.

FROM CATWALK TO OBSTACLE COURSE: Rachel Stobbart, a model from Workington, will take part in tomorrow’s Total Warrior challenge to raise money for the Give Us A Break Appeal

Rachel Stobbart, 30, of Harrington Road, is one of six models from internet firm The Corset Lady doing the gruelling 10km run and obstacle course at Shap to raise money for the Give Us A Break Appeal, which collecting cash for a respite centre for families with sick or disabled children.

Rachel started modelling when she was in her early 20s and has done wedding fairs and photographic shoots for The Corset Lady, which is owned by Jayne Laine, of Whitehaven.

Rachel said: “I have heard it will be raining at the weekend and that it will be quite muddy but that doesn’t put me off. I’ve been doing a lot of training including fell running to get myself ready for it. I’m looking forward to the event and hoping to get a good time. The money we’re raising will go to a really worthy charity.”

The models will be among dozens of people taking part in the event, including a Maryport trio who are raising funds for Support Our Soldiers.

Ryan Winthrop, Cumbrian co-ordinator of the charity, said so many people had run, walked and cycled for the charity that he felt it was time he did his bit.

He said: “I am doing the Total Warrior event along with good friends Gail and Mark Howard.”

The three will have to battle their way through hill climbs, fire, rivers and bogs.

Ryan added: “There are always going to be soldiers needing us.”

The organisation sends essentials to service men and women abroad.

No. It'll bring too many restrictions. It won't help anything
