Cumbria police charge two men after man's sudden death

Police have charged two people in connection with events leading up to a man's sudden death.

Michael Hewson, aged 26, was found dead in a property at School Terrace, Millom, by ambulance medics at 8.50am on Friday.

His death is being treated as unexplained.

A post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.

Two men were arrested and questioned regarding the events leading up to Mr Hewson’s death.

John Fretter, 25, of Newton Terrace, Millom, has been charged in connection with two offences of threats to kill, criminal damage, witness intimidation and harassment.

He appeared at Barrow Magistrates Court this afternoon and was remanded until August 1 when he will appear at Preston Crown Court.

Ian Robert Fullard, 52, of Lord Street, Millom, has been charged in connection with assault by beating and perverting the course of justice. He will appear at Barrow court on May 27.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed about the incident.
