Carlisle man broke neighbour's nose in drunken attack

Carlisle Crown Court has heard how a man broke a neighbour’s nose in a drunken attack on the street near his home.

Jeffrey Gate, 48, of Highfield Drive, Morton, took exception to some comments Carl Gordon made to him, so he headbutted him in the face.

Today he was given a two-year suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay Mr Gordon £1,000 compensation after pleading guilty to causing him actual bodily harm.

The court heard the two men are now on ‘cordial’ terms.
