Carlisle lap-dancing club given all clear to carry on

Carlisle's only lap-dancing club can carry on trading after city councillors granted it a sexual entertainment licence.

Rouge in Englishgate Plaza, Botchergate, has been operating since 2009.

It had to apply for a licence because the council decided last year to take up new regulatory powers under the Policing and Crime Act 2009.

The authority’s regulatory panel heard that Rouge was the only venue in Carlisle to apply for a sexual entertainment licence.

Granting the application, panel chairman Councillor David Morton said: “The premises have operated hitherto without any difficulty and there isn’t a suggestion that will change.”
