Up to 15 new jobs could be created when a leading shoe shop moves into Gretna.

Clarks Shoes has announced it will be taking over a 2,813 sq ft store at Gretna Gateway, the Dumfries and Galloway-based outlet village.

The popular shoe store will officially open this summer, selling a mixture of women’s, men’s and children’s shoes and accessories.

As with many of the shops at the outlet village, it will be selling items at a significant discount compared to normal High Street prices.

Clarks Factory Store will be the third new store to open at Gretna Gateway this year, following the recent openings of ethical beauty brand The Body Shop Outlet and lighting and mirror specialist Pagazzi.

Clarks will join other major brands already based at Gretna Gateway, including Gap, Marks and Spencer and Nike.

Peter Gardner, general manager at the outlet village, said: “We are delighted to be able to make this announcement, hot-on-the-heels of the news about our other recent new stores openings.

“We believe that all three signings are a major vote of confidence in Gretna Gateway, further strengthening our tenant line-up and improving the choice and variety for our customers.”

Gretna Gateway Outlet Village is open seven days a week from 10am to 6pm, including most bank holidays.
