Washington Square is welcoming leading pizza company Domino’s to Workington this July, and they’re on the look-out for a pizza-passionate team.

From pizza makers to delivery drivers and management staff, it’s a great time to get a slice of the action.

We met up with Carlisle store manager, Ahmed Seyam, 30, to find out why a career with Domino’s is so rewarding.

How did you get started with Domino’s?

I worked in Domino’s, Kent as a basic team member and was promoted to assistant manager within 6 months. I moved to Manchester and worked as a driver and shift manager for my local branch while studying for my degree. I enjoyed the experience so much that after graduation I re-joined the Domino’s team and moved to Carlisle to work as store manager.

What attracted you to this role?

I was a little reluctant to re-join the business at first, having done a degree in a completely different subject. But I loved the atmosphere and excitement. I’ve had a fantastic time working with a great team at the Carlisle store.

What qualifications or experience do you need to be a store manager?

You need to have basic people management skills, a drive for success and the energy to motivate a large team. You also need to be really passionate about what you do and strive for excellence. If I can do it, so can you!

What salary can a manager earn with Domino’s?

It can vary between £18,000 and £30,000 per annum depending on the store sales, targets and your previous experience.

Take us through a typical day.

There isn’t a typical day in Domino’s! Every day is different which makes it fun and exciting. It can vary from a day filled with training and workshops, to a day where your priority is making sure that we’re ready for a busy night shift - checking stock levels and briefing the team. It’s all hands on deck on a Saturday night!

As a manager it’s also my responsibility to set goals for the store. Every team member plays a vital role in the stores success, so it’s important that my team know what’s expected of them and that they’re supported to achieve their goals. My main priority is that my team provides excellent customer service day-in, day-out.

What do you like most about your job?

Every day is different! I can honestly say that I never get bored, it’s a place where a lovely bunch of people work together to make things happen.

What advice would you give to anyone applying for the new Workington store?

If you have the passion and drive for success and excellence, don’t let anyone hinder your progress!
