The hotel was acquired last year by Another Place for £2.7m as the first in a chain of six upmarket boutique hotels.
Founder Will Ashworth is the managing director of the Watergate Bay Hotel, near Newquay in Cornwall, which has been in his family for almost half a century.
He said: “We are using everything we have learned at Watergate Bay to create this new chain.
“Our aim is to have six hotels within 10 years. The first one needed to be a gem and in the Rampsbeck we found one.
“The ethos of Another Place is to have a collection of hotels in stunning locations where we can allow guests the chance to get out into the natural environment.”
The company plans to transform the Rampsbeck from a 19-bedroom to a 40-bedroom hotel with more family suites and dog-friendly rooms.
There will also be a ‘Swim Club’, which is the group’s take on a spa, with a 20-metre indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, treatment rooms, and a cardio room.
Food will be overseen by Neil Haydock who joins from Watergate Bay and has previously worked as a chef at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen in Cornwall.
